Q: How do I search for listings by neighborhood?
A: There are two ways to search by neighborhood. A quick search can be done from the home page by simply selecting an area from the drop-down menu. You can then select a specific neighborhood from the second drop-down menu that appears and click on the "Search" button.
The second way to search by neighborhood is from the "Advanced search". The "Advanced search" page allows you to search multiple areas simultaneously. From here, click on an area you want to search in the map or select one or more areas in the check boxes below. Then click "Next." By default, all neighborhoods in a chosen area are selected, but you can also choose the neighborhoods within each area you would like to search. Select any additional amenities you would like and click "Search" for results.
Q: What if I don't know what area the neighborhood I'm interested in is in?
A: A list of areas and associated neighborhoods is located by clicking on the "Key" link just under the quick search drop-down menu on the NWhomes home page.
Q: How can I search by the number of bedrooms or bathrooms a property or unit features?
A: You can search for bedrooms from the quick search on the home page. If you'd like to also search by the number of bathrooms, simply go to the "Advanced search" page. You'll be asked to select your desired area(s) and then you'll be able to select the minimum bedrooms and bathrooms you're looking for. In addition, you can sort any search results by the number of bedrooms in the drop-down menu where it says "Sort list by."
Q: How can I narrow my search by property type (house, apartments, condo, etc.)?
A: It is possible to narrow your search by property type after selecting your area(s) and neighborhood(s) in the "Advanced search."
Q: How do I search for certain amenities, like "hardwood floors" or "dishwasher"?
A: Searching by specific criteria such as amenities is possible after selecting your area(s) and neighborhood(s) in the "Advanced search."
Q: Are all of the listings in the newspaper also included in the search?
A: Advertisers can choose whether they want their newspaper ads to also appear online, so only those who want their ads online appear on the site. In addition, not all newspaper listings appear in the search results. Commercial property, shared housing and other Washington area listings appear only in our browse area, located here.
Q: How new are the "new" ads?
A: An ad is "new" for seven days in NWhomes.
Q: How can I search for only new ads?
A: You may search for new ads on the "Advanced search" page. After selecting an area and neighborhood(s) to search, check the "New" box and press the "Search" button.
If you'd like to see ads that are new within the last 24 hours in NWhomes, you can set up an e-mail alert and specify only new ads be sent - only ads that have been posted within 24 hours will be included in the e-mail alert.
Q: How are ads categorized into neighborhoods?
A: Ads are categorized by zip code, which is the smallest standard categorization possible for real estate and rentals ads. Zip codes are often associated with more than one neighborhood since neighborhoods in Seattle are not organized specifically within zip code areas. If you do a search for listings in Fremont, for example, you will get all listings in zip code 98103, which also includes Green Lake, Wallingford, Greenwood and Phinney Ridge. By contrast, if you do a search for listings in Queen Anne, which has its own zip code - 98109, you will only get Queen Anne listings. Rest assured you are getting results in the neighborhood(s) you selected; you may also see some listings in surrounding areas as well.
Q: Can I see more than 10 results per page?
A: Viewing more than 10 results per page is possible by selecting the desired results per page (10, 20 and 30 results per page are available) in the drop-down menu "Results per page" located at the top and bottom of each search results page. You can also select the number of results per page on the "Advanced search" page after you've selected your area and neighborhood.
Q: How are the ads sorted when I am viewing listings? Can I change the sort order?
A: The ads within your search results are sorted in order by price, from high to low. The display order of the ads can be changed by selecting a different sort order in the "Sort list by" drop-down menu at the top of any search results page.
Q: How do I add listings to my favorites? How do I view my favorites later? How long will my favorites be saved?
A: After finding a property you would like to add, you can click on the "Add to favorites" button (marked with a "+" sign) from the search results page or from the "Property details" page. If you are not logged in or do not yet have an account, you will be asked to register or log in before your favorites are saved. Your favorites will be saved for as long as those listings are in our database.
Q: Why do some listings include the exact addresses and some do not?
A: Listing content is decided by the advertiser. Some advertisers choose not to include the exact address of their property.
Q: Where can I find listings that aren't in King, Pierce or Snohomish counties?
A: Listings in the counties of Grays Harbor, Lewis, Skagit, Thurston and Whatcom are searchable along with those in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. Listings in all other areas are located under the "Other Washington Areas" category in our browse area.
Q: Where can I find vacation rentals listings?
A: Vacation rental listings are located in our browse area.
Q: Where can I find commercial real estate or rentals listings?
A: Commercial real estate listings are located in our browse area.
Q: How often is the Web site updated?
A: All of the newspaper ads on this site are updated daily by 9:30 p.m. PST. We do have additional data from online-only advertisers that update at various times during the day.
Q: Where do the listings come from?
A: NWhomes contains classified ads that appear in both the Seattle Times and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, as well as ads directly from property owners, brokers, agents and property managers, which are supplied to the sites directly from advertisers.
Q: How can I browse just the newspaper listings?
A: Newspaper listings are found in the browse area of our site.
