Creating your listing
What will I need to complete my listing?
You will need to have the following items ready before you begin:
- Credit/debit card *
- Details on the vehicle you are advertising, such as make, model, year and mileage. The more information provided, the easier it will be for a buyer to find your listing.
- Photos are not required but will increase the likelihood someone will view your listing. You can also add photos to your listing later on.
- Your contact information
* You must submit your payment at the time you place the listing. We do not accept checks or other forms of payment by mail.
What if I do not have everything ready to submit at one time?
You may go back and edit your listing at any time after you submit your listing. Simply follow the instructions outlined in your confirmation e-mail.
I'm having trouble uploading my photos.
Check to see what format the picture is and the size of the image. We accept JPG (preferred), GIF, BMP, TIFF and PNG formats and file sizes up to 5MB per image, but we recommend using photos less than 1MB. Large photos can take several minutes to upload, so please be patient.
If you are still unsuccessful in uploading your photos, you may send them as attachments to the Customer Support team at support@nwautos.com, and they will add them to your ad.
Why is there an advertiser agreement?
The advertiser agreement is a legal document that spells out the relationship between you and The Seattle Times Company.
What happens if someone violates the advertiser agreement?
The advertiser agreement allows us to warn the advertiser and/or delete a listing if an advertiser breaches any part of the advertiser agreement. Fraudulent and illegal items are strictly prohibited on our site. Any seller who attempts to sell prohibited items or commit fraud will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Please review the advertiser agreement and the prohibited, questionable and infringing items pages for additional information.
My credit/debit card keeps getting declined
Here are a couple of recommendations:
- Check the error message on the page and make sure you are filling out all the required fields.
- Check that you are entering the correct credit/debit card number and make sure it has not expired.
- Check that you have entered the correct credit card security code. More information on where to find the security code can be found here.
- Check that the name, address and ZIP code match what is on your credit card statement.
When will my listing appear online?
Your new listing will appear on NWautos within three hours of placement.
Editing your listing and photos
How do I edit my listing?
First, locate your listing e-mail confirmation. Next, click the URL provided and follow the instructions detailed in the confirmation e-mail. You will need to supply your e-mail address in order to log in.
If you have lost your email confirmation, you can request to have it re-sent.
What should I do if I've lost my confirmation e-mail?
If you have lost your email confirmation, you can request to have it re-sent. You must know the e-mail address you initially used to post the listing. A new confirmation e-mail will be sent to this address.
Can I add or edit my photos after I submitted my listing?
Yes, you can add or edit your photos at any time. Click the URL provided in your e-mail confirmation.

I'd like to add a photo to my ad, but I don't have one in digital format. What should I do?
Many major drugstore chains now have self-service kiosks that allow you to scan your photo and save it to a disk. Most film-processing centers and copy centers will scan your images if you prefer not to use a kiosk. You can also have your undeveloped film processed into digital format at most film-processing centers for an additional fee.
When will the changes to my listings appear on NWautos?
Your changes will appear on NWautos within three hours of being submitted.
Your listing on the site
How do I locate my ad on the site?
You can navigate to your ad by starting at NWautos.com, then clicking the "Find A Vehicle" tab. On this page, enter the criteria that match the listing you created. Click "Search" and your listing will be included in the search results.
If you do not see your listing, make sure you have waited at least three hours after you have placed your listing for it to be posted on the site.

I included my e-mail address in my contact information - why do I not see it listed in my ad?
Your e-mail address will not actually be visible in your listing. Instead, you will see a "Contact Seller" Form that interested parties can fill out directly on the page. When they click "submit" the information will be forwarded to your e-mail account.
Refunds and re-activating listings
How can I obtain a refund?
If your ad runs incorrectly despite your efforts to correct your listing using the editing tool, please contact the Customer Support team (206-464-8491, or email us) to receive immediate assistance. If at this point you would like to cancel your listing, you may request a full refund.
What can I do if I need to re-activate my listing?
If your ad has been deleted in error, or you need to resume advertising within the originally scheduled dates, you must contact the Customer Support team (206-464-8491, or email us to have it re-activated.
How can I renew my ad?
At this time, we do not offer the ability to renew an existing listing. To continue advertising your vehicle, you must place a new listing.
