Check Masters

We almost need all day to tell you about the plethora of perks enjoyed by the employees of Check Masters, a Lynnwood-based chain of payday loan offices. But just to give you a taste: They've got gym memberships, bus passes, Mariners and Seahawks tickets to name a few. You can get your flu shots here as well, and whoa, subsidized birth control? This is a company that's really taking care of everything.

Then there are the bonuses. Annual bonuses run between $500 and $1,000, plus monthly bonuses of up to $700. All 140 staff members get a $25 gift card on their birthdays, and another $25 for each year spent with the company. At five years, employees score $1,000 toward a vacation of their choice. Ten years is rewarded with $2,500.

And that's only the beginning of the incentives. Employees win $10 for each fraudulent check that they catch. Everyone who balances his or her cash drawer to within $10 for six straight months gets $100, and is entered to win another $1,000. They can also take out interest-free loans if they need help paying down debt or buying a house.

Seeing a lot of dollar signs? So are they.

Editor's pick

All Star Directories, a publisher of online school directories in Seattle, offers employees a $100 per month lifestyle benefit -- you can use it for whatever you want, or just have an extra $100 in your pocket. What else can we say?
