Sunrise Identity

There's not just one dog in the office at Woodinville's Sunrise Identity. On any given day, there are usually three, often four, and sometimes up to seven panting and wagging additional staff members going about their jobs here.

Their first duty is to inspire creativity and remind employees of this small marketing firm that play is an important part of each day. But it's not all fun and games for the pooches, either -- beagles Floppy and Lumpy (aka "The Little Lump-Lump") are charged with greeting people when they come in the door. Max the wiener dog guards the programs department, while Madi the yellow Lab provides fetching assistance in the warehouse.

It started years ago when someone started bringing a stray in to work with him every day. When that employee moved on, people missed the dog so much, others started bring their own pooches in, resulting in an office culture that is so pet-friendly, there is an entire section of the employee handbook dedicated to dogs and they have their own page on the company's Web site.

Not everyone is a fan, though. As one employee lamented, "I once got passed over for a promotion because they gave the job to one of the dogs here in the office. Now that's pet-friendly."
