Murphy & Associates

Honesty. That's the word that comes up repeatedly when people describe what they like about working for IT staffing firm Murphy & Associates. Contractors who go through the Kirkland-based company say the most important thing that sets them apart is that they tell their contractors exactly how much they're billing clients for their services, and how much of a cut they're taking themselves. It usually runs around 15 percent -- and that's a screamin' deal in the industry.

"You get to budget your life as they ... give you the lion's share of what you earned," one contractor said.

That kind of transparency has earned Murphy & Associates a lot of loyalty. Erik Murphy, the agency's Vice President of Operations, says that among the nearly 200 professionals they have placed around the Puget Sound region, some have been with them for 10 or 12 or 15 years, and the average tenure is eight. That's pretty good for any company -- especially one where jobs are considered only temporary.
