Workers at Projectline Services often kick back with a little Nintendo Wii.
It's not uncommon for employees blowing off steam over after-work drinks to sit around and talk about how they would run the company differently if they were in charge. Employees at the 52-person technology marketing firm Projectline say they just sit around and talk about how happy they are. With lots of flex hours and telecommuting, they can work where and whenever they want, as long as they get the job done. A few new mothers on staff were particularly appreciative of that kind of flexibility. Many also like the way the company encourages them to walk, bus or bike with incentives like free car washes and vouchers at REI. Employees participate in monthly volunteer work. Projectline also redirects a portion of its profits each month into microfinance loans for small businesses in the developing world. When they are in the office (at fancy new digs in both Pioneer Square and downtown Bellevue), fun seems to be a top priority. A conference table doubles as a pool table and there's even a Nintendo Wii in the lounge. So the only question is, who would want to work from home?
