F5 employees told us that the best large company to work for is one that doesn't act large. F5 Networks, a high-tech developer of application delivery networks, has nearly 1,600 employees, and a loud chorus of them say that they feel like they work for someplace small. "Despite the size of our workforce, I've always felt really personally appreciated -- something that I can only imagine takes some effort," says one employee. Thanks to a large-company budget, those efforts include handsome salaries, full medical and dental coverage and trips to Cancun for top job performances. With offices in 31 countries, F5 is also able to offer people a lot of mobility and opportunities to live or work abroad. With a largely horizontal corporate structure, the doors of executives' offices are always open, and employees with ideas feel empowered and motivated to walk through them.
