Astronics Corporation staffers participate in the United Way's Day of Caring.
Two years ago, aerospace manufacturer Astronics Corporation wouldn't have even qualified for our large company category. But their workforce has nearly doubled and revenue has tripled since 2005, as the airline industry has rebounded from the Sept. 11 attacks and demand has gone up for the lighting and electronics systems Astronics builds. "Astronics' people are great, the processes are well defined, the products are leading-edge, the markets are expanding and more customers are seeking us out; all of which lead to good pay, great benefits, stimulating work and just generally happy people," says one employee. The 285 staffers in the Redmond location of the New York-based company enjoy the company's profit-sharing policy, flexible working hours and an office culture that's open and caring. And the gratitude is clear: "This company does not discriminate against age, race, creed or color," one worker tells us. "I'm a 63-year-old male and without this company giving me a fair chance, I would not be in the work force at my age. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You."
