Astronics Corporation employees enjoy a buffet lunch at the year-end party.
We hope the event committee at Redmond aerospace company Astronics Corporation is getting paid well for overtime -- they're busy as bees throwing together a new party for employees each and every month. Everyone here seems to have a different favorite. Some liked the holiday party at the Redhook Brewery, where lunch was catered and the company brought in a live comedian to entertain the troops. Others liked the summer cruise to Tillicum Village on Blake Island, where the staff was treated to a giant salmon feed and entertainment from local Native American tribes. After-work poker tournaments benefiting local charities go over well, too. What makes us most jealous, though, are the Office Olympics. Employees competed in the events of rubber band archery, wastepaper basket-shooting and the cubicle obstacle course, where competitors must collate, staple, unstaple and load printer paper -- all while dizzy from a good spin in a swivel chair. Now THAT is an office party.
Voters tell us that Moneytree throws an extravagant annual gala. The company provides top-notch entertainment, decorations and food -- and even hands out cash awards. Employees enjoy the chance to dress up in tuxes and gowns, and they feel valued by the all-expenses-paid extravaganza.
