Maybe this is a no-brainer, but we weren't surprised when Premera Blue Cross won again this year for providing the best benefits. That is, after all, the company's job. It's not just the premium-free medical coverage, though. It's the 401(k), life insurance and flexible spending accounts. And many are thrilled that their employer just has a good, old-fashioned pension plan. What? Putting free money aside into a retirement account? That's not something you see much anymore. To keep its employees on the road to advancement, Premera also reimburses $2,000 per year in tuition for an undergraduate and $5,000 for a graduate degree. Staying healthy is a top priority, too. Premera covers 100 percent of preventive care costs, and conducts mammograms and biometric screenings on campus as part of a "Know Your Numbers" campaign. Employees are encouraged to take action through discounts at health clubs, Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers. "Peace of mind" is what they're selling their members -- which is easy when speaking from experience.
Employees at All Star Directories and BECU raved about the generous benefits. Both companies offer the basics: All Star also offers gym memberships, free parking and a flex pass as well as profit sharing; BECU adds items like pet insurance, adoption assistance and four weeks of paid time off the day an employee starts.
